Patio Perspectives #1
Before I Pour Into Everyone Else...
Welcome to Patio Perspectives.
Reflections inspired by coffee, quiet mornings, and the lessons that help us navigate leadership, midlife, and life's changing seasons.
This weekend, as I sat on the patio with a cup of coffee and my German Shepherd watching the world wake up, something occurred to me.
Some of my greatest moments of gratitude, clarity, and intention happen on a patio.
It doesn't seem to matter where the patio is, a mountain, a coffee shop, a winery, or my own backyard. Something about slowing down, taking a deep breath, and simply being present creates space for perspective.
Maybe that's exactly what we all need a little more of.
When was the last time you gave yourself permission to simply be still?
Before I pour into everyone else, I pour a cup of coffee.
Early mornings, you'll find me on the patio with my German Shepherd, watching the world wake up.
No scrolling. No emails. No rushing.
Just a reminder that peace doesn't usually find us, we have to choose it.
Many people believe successful people start working the moment their feet hit the floor.
I've learned something different.
The way I start my morning often determines how I show up for the rest of the day. I've learned that I have to be intentional with both my time and my thoughts.
Some of my best ideas, biggest decisions, and clearest perspective don't come from working harder.
They come from sitting still long enough to hear myself think.
As women, especially in midlife, we're often conditioned to believe our value comes from how much we accomplish, how many people we help, or how much we can carry.
But what if the strongest thing we do today isn't adding something to our schedule?
What if it's creating a little space before the world starts asking for us?
That's what these mornings have become for me.
Not an escape.
A reset.
A moment of gratitude.
A reminder that before I lead, coach, encourage, or serve others, I need to reconnect with myself.
If you're navigating your own next chapter, don't underestimate the power of a simple ritual that grounds you before the noise begins.
Sometimes five quiet minutes can change the trajectory of your entire day.
So I'll ask you again...
What's one morning ritual that helps you feel grounded before the day begins?
I'd love to hear your Go-To.
Until next time, remember: your attitude determines your latitude.
Choose it. Own it. Live it.
